Grad Central has recently helped Worcestershire-based Morgan Technical Ceramics to place a graduate within the company, after searching overseas to find the perfect candidate.
Based in Stourport-on-Severn, the company manufactures specialist ceramic products for a number of global markets, including aerospace, medical and telecommunications. Currently employing around 230 people at its West Midlands site, Morgan Technical Ceramics was determined to find the right person to fill the vacant position with a range of specialist skills and technical knowledge in the manufacturing industry.
Ken Ash, Human Resources Manager at Morgan Technical Ceramics, explained: “The biggest challenge when we were looking for the ideal candidate to join our experienced workforce was the understanding behind the nature of the business and the niche skills this role requires. Using other recruitment agencies in the past has proven to be a challenge, as they have provided us with unsuitable candidates with a lack of experience and knowledge in this industry.
“However, Grad Central was the first agency to truly understand our criteria and went above and beyond its duties to search for someone who would fit the bill down to the very last detail.”
Grad Central’s team of experienced recruiters put forward Alice Vincent, a Chemical Engineering graduate of French nationality who is now living in Bromsgrove. Filling the vacant position of Materials Engineer, the role requires to work as part of a team to research and develop products for new markets, as well as supporting the existing production process on-site.
Alice explained: “When looking for a job, I wanted to utilise my degree level skills as much as possible, but finding an appropriate job with my specialisms in material science and ceramics was tough. Landing this job with Grad Central’s help at Morgan Technical Ceramics was better than I could have ever dreamed of.
“Grad Central was very supportive from start to finish, and with a comprehensive team helping me every step of the way, I felt confident with my English and more prepared to start my career in the UK.”
Lucy Cheatham, Marketing Director at Grad Central, said: “Manufacturing businesses in the West Midlands are very prominent and often are looking for a high calibre of applicants to fulfil their expectations. Alice was a clear choice in this instance, so we set out to make the process as easy and hassle free for her and Morgan Technical Ceramics, despite the initial distance.”
Ken said: “Grad Central could have been located next door to our offices as the service it provided was quick, friendly and uncomplicated, giving Alice and the business the vital support we needed. Not only that, the cost to us for this whole process was completely free of charge, which would not have been possible had we done this ourselves.”
