National Express UK Bus operates bus services within three areas – the West Midlands, Coventry and Dundee. National Express West Midlands one of the largest bus operators in the UK, carries over 1 million passengers every day and also runs the Metro tram link between Wolverhampton and Birmingham. Our UK Bus business has a fleet of 1,600 buses and 5,500 employees across 13 locations.
National Express Coaches link people and places on Britain’s only scheduled coach network. There are over 17 million passenger journeys provided per annum and the intercity and cross country coach networks serve over 1,000 destinations.
Our North American operations are headquartered in Chicago. Since entering the USA market in 1998 with the acquisition of Durham School Services, and the Canadian market in 2002, with the acquisition of Stock Transportation, National Express has become the second largest provider of school transportation services.
In November 2005, the Group acquired Spain’s leading coach and bus operator, Alsa which carries 120 million passengers per annum. Alsa operates 1,400 vehicles and has extended its operations into Portugal and Morocco. In addition Alsa is a major partner in the Eurolines international coach operation through which its relationship with the Group has been developed over the past years.
