Nick with the team at Tri-Tech
Paul Webber, MD of Tri-Tech Engineering, commented: "We only launched the business last year, therefore we are delighted that in such a short space of time we have been able to grow significantly, particularly in the current economic climate.
"It was all part of our strategy to tackle the recession head-on. We decided the best approach was to look at graduate talent that could bring fresh blood, new ideas and enthusiasm into the company that would help drive the business forward and Nick has certainly done that. To compliment this, some of the new skills he brings, like being up-to-date with the latest computer-aided design skills, has recently won us a new contract with a local company that produces bespoke furniture for the rich and famous."
Finding the right skills
Grad Central was recommended to Tri-Tech by Business Link. Once Tri-Tech discussed its requirements, the Grad Central team handpicked the right candidates that had the appropriate skills for this niche market.
Contined Paul: "Whilst running a small business it is difficult to find the time to efficiently search for the right people to interview. Grad Central did this for us. We worked closely with our dedicated consultant at Grad Central, who was attentive, listened to our needs and arranged everything. Each step of the process we were guided thoroughly so everything ran smoothly. We would definitely use Grad Central again if we were looking to hire a graduate in the future and would recommend them to any other company."
Grad Central, which is funded by regional development agency Advantage West Midlands (AWM), is dedicated solely to graduate recruitment in the West Midlands. It offers both businesses and graduates a range of unique benefits, including no recruitment fees for a business’ first graduate placement, along with a host of first class web-based features to help sell graduates’ key skills to potential employers.
Nick Jones said: "I had been out of work for a number of months before being offered a position at Tri-Tech, during which time I had tried all the different methods of getting of job like local newspaper adverts, the internet and contacting companies directly.
"Whilst I previously have had a few bad experiences with recruitment agencies, Grad Central was completely different. Ultimately, you want a recruitment agency to be an extension of you. They have to represent you with potential employers before you have a chance to do this yourself.
"Grad Central did this brilliantly, and more importantly, the team communicated with me every step of the way. Once I got through the door at Tri-Tech, I was confident I had the skills to make myself standout from the crowd, and I am delighted I am now working for this ambitious business."
