Electrical Design Engineer

Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer
Location: Burton-On-Trent
Salary: £35,000

The ideal candidate will be expected to produce clean sheet layout work using existing building blocks to create a design layout of the required locomotive as part of their daily duties. You will be producing calculations as required to ensure that the proposed design will do the job and meet the relevant standards. You will also be expected to liaise with both suppliers, customers and the shop floor whilst making decisions on solutions to build problems and or manufacturing defects.

The role of Electrical Design Engineer naturally carries with it a great deal of responsibility. As a result we only looking for candidates who can demonstrate at least 5 to 7 years of design experience in a similar position within the rail or off-road industries. We are looking for an excellent draughtsman, who is proficient in the use of Autocad 2d, and Inventor 3d.

In addition, we are looking for Electrical Design Engineers who can demonstrate:

* Experience of diesel engine selection and installation.
* Experience of torque converter / power-shift transmission selection and installation.
* Experience in pneumatic and hydraulic system design.
* Experience in braking systems, preferably rail industry
* Experience in the installation of major components i.e. large electric motors, equipment enclosures, etc.
* Experience in designing large heavy fabrications, up to 200mm thick plates.
* Experience in design of cabs and equipment enclosures, experience required in motors and IGBT controllers.

Ideally, the successful candidate must also be comfortable producing written reports, specifications, test procedures and operating manuals.
