Engineering graduates in the West Midlands
The West Midlands area is home to some of the largest engineering companies in the country and also home to some great inventions; cotton wool, the LCD screen, spark plugs, stamps and jet engines were all invented in our region, making it the ideal place in which to launch your engineering career.
The region has a very strong engineering and manufacturing heritage, not only being host to Ironbridge, the birthplace of industry, but the Black Country which gets its name from the dominance of manufacturing industry in the area. There are many large engineering based companies across the region including; GKN, Lucas, JCB, Delcam, Jaguar Landrover and LDV. The area also has thousands of smaller companies looking to fill graduate engineering jobs and roles, many producing components for the regions major car manufacturers.
Engineering is an exciting field, applying problem solving skills and theoretical solutions to a variety of practical situations to better people’s lives and improve society as a whole. Engineering graduates will be expected to have a firm grasp of their chosen discipline and will be expected to be able to apply their knowledge to common situations. As your abilities and your knowledge flourishes you’ll be given more responsibility and bigger projects to work on. Many employers will fully support your professional growth, and may assist you in achieving further relevant qualifications.
