Our Estimator Graduate Programme is designed to give you an immersive, hands-on experience. You'll gain a thorough rounded and grounded experience which will form the solid platform for a long career in contracting.
Primary Responsibilities
- To initiate tendering process and obtain material and subcontract prices.
- Negotiate contracts, taking an overview looking for commercial opportunity secure budgeted turnover and volume at chosen margin.
- To undetake appraisal of completed tenders.
- Ensure all enquiries are correctly dealt with.
- Ensure compliance with policies including Health & Safety, Environmental, Sustainability and requirements of other statutory bodies.
- Develop and influence all bid strategies.
- Maintain records of tender success/failures.
- Disseminate best practice.
Qualifications and Experience
Educated to HNC/HND level or equivalent
IOSH
Member of RICS, or ICES preferred
Analytical ability, process driven, conditions of:
- Commercial awareness/Estimating techniques
- Numerate/Literacy/Attention to detail
- Client contact/liaison/sales / Customer Knowledge
- Surfacing and civil engineering procedures
- Method of measurement and conditions of contract
- Current operating rates for Labour/Plant/Materials
- Specification requirements
- Working methods, equipment, materials, outputs.
- Company procedures and QA requirement
- Contract, specifications, method of measurement.
