Senior Technologist

Our client specialise in the procurement of worldwide produce for sales around the UK and Europe, and the successful candidate will be responsible for improving and maintaining our client's expertise in achieving all technical requirements & EFSIS, BRC, EUREP, and ICM principles. Role: Senior Technologist
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £28,000 - £35,000

As a Senior Technologist, your responsibilities will include to actively 'market' our client's technical expertise and enhance the company profile with their impressive range of customers. In addition to this, you will maintain control of all aspects of agronomy with sustained focus on all chemical inputs at source. The successful applicant will take on a variety of exciting duties which will include:

*Managing supplier profiles
*Maintaining approved supplier and grower lists
*Learning and understanding farming practices
*Measuring the performance of suppliers
*Maintaining due diligence across the supply base
*Meet the technical marketing plan
*Produce and follow up on NPD plans for all existing and new products
*Plan and control customer visits
*Input into the development of the supply chain to ensure that it is conductive to a lean manufacturing operation

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in either a Food Science, Food Technology, Agronomy or relevant Biological discipline and be able to demonstrate successful experience within a similar role. You will benefit significantly from having a background in fresh produce and farming, alongside an ability to analyse, understand and solve problems. You will be a confident communicator, with a natural ability to build and maintain a network of contacts within and outside the company. These contacts will include: MAFF, PSD, COLLEACP, EHO, Universities, NRI and laboratories. In addition to this, candidates will be expected to display experience of BRC Audits and significantly benefit from fluency in a 2nd language such as French or Spanish.

Candidates will have a strong ability to give presentations and be willing to travel abroad as part of the role.
