New Year, New Hope!

7 Feb 11 - 11:42AM  | General recruitment |  Graduate |  Regional

According to latest research by the West Midlands Chamber of Commerce, businesses across the region are in a buoyant mood about their prospects for 2011, with over half confident that their fortunes will improve this year.

Reported in the Birmingham Post, the survey revealed that the service sector was the most upbeat, with 58 per cent of firms expecting turnover to increase and 59 per cent forecast an improvement in profitability.

This confidence is great news for the local economy.  With businesses putting the recession firmly behind them and concentrating on having a positive outlook on what lies ahead this year and in the future, the West Midlands is in much better shape to get through the tough times.  It’s that fighting spirit and determination that is testament to the people within the business community in this region.

This attitude is also great news for the jobs market in general, particularly for graduates.  At Grad Central, we know that companies are actively recruiting graduates because of the enthusiasm, new skills and fresh perspectives they can bring to a business.

So whether you have recently qualified and are looking to start your career, more experienced and want to take the next step up the ladder, or have been looking for work for a while without luck and feel a bit dejected, there are opportunities out there and if this survey is anything to go by, there will be more.  It’s a New Year, so go for it!
