Aim of Programme
To nurture and develop talented individuals through the early years of their career, giving them the opportunity to gain hands on experience through planned rotational assignments across different aspects of our business. The programme is designed to give an individual the chance to gain experience in different roles in a range of locations and furthermore a foundation for a career at UPS. At the end of the programme, you will be suitably placed for an entry level management position, which is determined by your achievement, performance and the opportunities that are available.
Objective
The UPS Business Leadership Programme is a rotational based programme that consists of real job assignments. The rotational assignments will cut across different aspects of the business, providing a broad and valuable experience in a relatively short amount of time.
Expectations
We expect our Graduates to contribute new ideas and help support the growth of our business through their intelligence, initiative and individuality. In return, we provide the support and opportunity for them to embark on an entry level management position at the end of the 2 year programme. Make no mistake, though while we will provide the opportunities it is down to the individual to make the most of them. We will expect them to show commitment, to learn quickly and to deliver results in real roles.
Structure of the Programme
The programme runs for approximately 2 years and will comprise of multiple assignment rotations. The assignments will cross both Operational and Functional aspects of the business to gain experience in different roles in a range of locations. Rotations vary and will include an on-road assignment as a Package Car Driver to gain an understanding of the core of our business, a hub and centre associated assignment to experience the operating networks and other assignments that encompass a supporting function or freight logistics arm of our business. The programme is designed around a structured career development plan that incorporates job specific and corporate training schools, leadership certifications and key performance indicators (KPI’s) specific to each assignment. Regular performance reviews and feedback meetings are mandatory and are designed to unlock opportunity in each assignment.
