TRI-TECH ENGINEERS GRADUATE SKILLS

19 Jul 10 - 2:09PM  | Graduate

A Staffordshire-based company which specialises in installing and maintaining engineering equipment that is vital for research and development (R&D) in major Blue Chip organisations has been praised for its commitment to graduate training.

Graduate recruitment specialist Grad Central recognised Tri-Tech Engineering Ltd after its candidate Nick Jones recently celebrated his first year employed as a Rapid Prototyping Engineer within the Tri-Tech business.  Nick was the first graduate Grad Central placed in business after it launched its completely fee free recruitment service to West Midlands’ companies twelve months ago.

Lucy Cheatham, Marketing Director at Grad Central, commented: “Just like Grad Central has done, it is fantastic to see how much progress Nick has made in his first year, particularly given the difficult market conditions in the last twelve months which have put many businesses under extreme pressure and made the jobs market highly competitive.  This has been testament to the investment Tri-Tech has made in Nick, coupled with his own drive, commitment and enthusiasm.”

In such a technical environment, Nick spent the six months shadowing the company’s MD and senior technical engineers on various projects for a number of Tri-Tech’s prestigious clients like Aston Martin, Unilever, Gillette and Ford.  To compliment this, Tri-Tech also invested to send him on a number of training courses.

Under supervision, he gained the skills, confidence and competence to install, maintain and service the wide range of 3D printers that are fundamental in the research and development divisions of these businesses.  From there, he was able to work independently, knowing he had the back up support of the business at his disposal should he need it.

Paul Webber, Managing Director at Tri-Tech Engineering, said: “There was no shortage of experienced engineers who applied for this position.  However, Tri-Tech is a relatively new business, so we decided to take on Nick because of his hunger, willingness to learn and fresh thinking.  We felt that tailoring a graduate to Tri-Tech’s objectives and ways of working would be more beneficial than taking on a more experienced engineer that might come with excess baggage.”

Tri-Tech installs engineering equipment from £30,000 up to £100,000 for organisations where R&D is essential in new product development.  Through rapid prototyping, the 3D printers bring CAD drawings to life without any human interaction.

“For any business thinking about employing new people, I would strongly recommend taking on a graduate,” concluded Paul.  “From our perspective, it is fantastic seeing Nick developing by the day and putting his learning into practice.  Not only this, but this growth adds to our own business infrastructure, making him an integral part of the company.”
